Two Philly women have resigned their posts as head coach of college programs.
Lynne Elphick, an Owen J. Roberts graduate, has resigned as head coach at Division II East Stroudsburg after five seasons. Meanwhile, former West Chester University great Sarah Quintois (Souderton) has resigned as coach at Division III Gwynedd Mercy College after 10 seasons.
Elphick was the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Coach of the Year in 2008 and had a career record of 34-48, going 29-24 over her final three years. ESU finished below .500 for seven straight years before its turnaround season in 2008, going 11-7 for an eight-win improvement and the first PSAC tournament appearance since 2005.
A 2003 graduate of ESU, Elphick was a four-year player on the lacrosse team. She returned to ESU after coaching for two years at Alvernia College in Reading. She led Alvernia to six wins and a 5-5 record in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference in her first season as a head coach. She was also an assistant coach for one year.
Quintois guided her teams to three-straight ECAC Postseason appearances in 2007, 2008, and 2009 and seven straight conference playoff appearances, including the championship game the past two years in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
Quintois is a two-time conference coach of the year, first earning the award in 2005 as the squad won 11 games. She earned the nod in 2009 as the Griffins won 12 games and made their first appearance in the CSAC Championship game.
After a stellar career as a player at West Chester University where she was an all-conference selection for three years, Quintois was named PSAC Player of the Year, and Division II National Player of the Year in her senior season. She also was an IWLA and USWLA All-American in both her junior and senior seasons.
