Christian Cardinal scored two goals while Dan Losier, Nick Cruice and Jack Bogorowski each added one as host La Salle held off Episcopal Academy, 5-4, today in a non-league boys’ lacrosse game featuring two teams ranked in the PA Media Rankings.
The Explorers, ranked No. 3, improved to 6-1 and No. 9 EA fell to 7-2. John Lawlor made seven saves for La Salle.
Chase Growney scored a late goal to draw EA within 5-4 after it trailed 5-2, early in the fourth period. The Churchmen had several chances to tie the game, but La Salle’s defense held.
Connor Haab had a goal and an assist and Shane Morrell and Andrew Gordon also scored for EA and goalie Tyler Morrell had a standout game with 12 saves.
Penn Charter 9, Malvern Prep 8, 2OT
Joey Sankey (three goals) scored the game-winner with 1:06 left in overtime as the Quakers stunned the Friars in an Inter-Ac League game.
Tyler Early and Tyler White added two goals apiece and Jackson Tamasitis made 15 saves.
Haverford School 13, Germantown Academy 3
Stephen Aitken scored four goals as the Fords (8-2, 1-0) opened their Inter-Ac League season with a win over the Patriots (4-1, 0-1). Beau Jones had two goals for GA.
Lower Merion 11, Radnor 4
Jordan Wolf had four goals and one assist and Andrew Mongeluzzi added three goals and one assist to help the Aces (2-5, 1-2) win their second straight and take the Central League game.
Joe Shallow added two goals and Nile Thompson had one goal and one assist for Lower Merion. John Zeidman added one goal and Hank Altschuler had 11 saves.
Jordan Berstein had one goal and one assist for the Raiders.
Springfield-Delco 13, Harriton 1
Billy McCullough was 10 for 10 at the faceoff X while Josh Cavanaugh had three goals and an assist and Colin Keegan collected two goals and six assists for the Cougars in the Central League win.
Penncrest 14, Marple Newtown 5
Andrew Caldwell scored four goals and Tom Kelly added two goals and three assists to help the Lions to the victory.
Ridley 10, Haverford High 5
Tyler Johnston notched four goals to pace the Green Raiders to the win.
Garnet Valley 13, Strath Haven 5
Ricky Lehman tallied three goals to lead the Jaguars to victory. Mark Dolphin scored three for the Panthers.
Conestoga 10, Upper Darby 2
Matt Smith notched three tallies to pace the Pioneers.
Methacton 6, Boyertown 4
Sean Aronow and Chris Germano scored two goals while Sam McAdoo and Cody Ridgway notched one apiece for the Warriors (4-2, 3-2) in the PAC-10 win.
Eli Miller went 10-3 at the faceoff X, generating a number of offensive possessions for Methacton. Scott Markle (six saves) and Ryan Murphy (seven saves) split time in goal.
“I was pleased with the way we responded in the second half following a shaky start,” said Methacton coach Nat Ryan. “Our defense was great in settled 6v6. We were able to generate some good opportunities in transition. It was a solid win against a good team in our league.”
Neshaminy 7, Council Rock South 6
Chris Brady had four goals and two assists to lead the Redskins to an SOL victory. Eugene Laborde was strong in goal with 15 saves.
Dennis Chickin led the Golden Hawks with three tallies.
Wissahickon 19, Cheltenham 1
Garret Rosiek had three goals and five assists and Brian Dick added three goals and two assists as the Trojans coasted to the Suburban One American win.
St. Augustine Prep (NJ) 10, St. Joseph’s Prep 9
Jeff Heath had two goal and two assists and Mike Zikoski played well in goal for the Hawks in the non-league loss.
Abington 16, Harry S Truman 2
Anthony Hensley netted four goals and Matt Louridas added three to lead the Ghosts to an easy win.
Shipley 8, Monsignor Bonner 0
The Gators improved to 7-0 as sophomore goalie Ian McGibbon posted his second career shutout with five saves and Julius Mouser had two goals and an assist.
Bishop Shanahan 17, Henderson 11
Keegan Lawton collected seven goals and four assists and Michael Thompson had five goals for the Eagles.
Kyle Holeton and Chris Cordivari combined for 15 groundballs and Jake Farrell anchored the defense for Shanahan.
Max Siskind poured in eight goals for the Warriors.
Downingtown West 11, Unionville 4
Eric Sanders had four goals and one assist and Eric Rankel had three goals as the Whippets moved to 2-0 in the Ches-Mont. Goalie Dustin Keen made eight saves for the Whippets.
Mike Nowoswiat led the Indians with three goals (all man-up.)
Northeast 9, Audenried 2
Thomas Tompkins scored two goals for Audenried (0-2) in its Pubic League loss.
Avon Grove 10, Kennett 7
Damian Sobieski had three goals and one assist to lead AG to the Ches-Mont League win.
New Hope-Solebury 15, Devon Prep 0
Devon Prep goalie Zac Chunglo was a standout for the Tide in defeat, making 22 saves.
