Betsy Sachs scored the game-winner with 12 seconds to play as Germantown Friends stunned host Baldwin School, 17-16, in a non-league girls’ lacrosse game Tuesday.
The Tigers (2-0) were down, 12-7, early in the second half, but rallied and tied the game, 16-16, on consecutive goals by Lyles Swift Farley (five goals, five groundballs), the second with 32 seconds to play.
Iris Williamson led the comeback with five goals and Sachs finished with four goals, two assists and five draw controls.
Lydie McKenzie added two goals and Lilly Tyson had a key goal in the second half. Shelby Tucker added two draw controls, three groundballs and two caused turnovers while Sophie Mercuris had two caused turnovers. Goalie Samie Francis made 12 saves in goal and held the Bears scoreless for 15 minutes of the second half.
Baldwin (0-2) was led by Sloan Warren, who had nine goals and one assist. Brooke Simone added two goals.
GFS lost, 19-7, to Baldwin last season.
