Scholastic girls roundup: Abington edges Rustin in OT; S. Haven, Harriton, Radnor, Springfield-D claims Central League wins

Senior Courtney Cox scored the game winner with 1:49 left in sudden victory overtime to give Abington a 15-14 overtime win over Bayard Rustin Tuesday in non-league girls’ lacrosse action.

Cox led the Ghosts’ attack with a career high six goals, and junior Carli Fitzgerald added five goals and two assists. Junior Molly Seefried scored three goals and had one assists while sophomore Kelsey Fitzgerald scored once.

Leading the Abington (1-1) defense were Liz Wilson (five groundballs and four caused turnovers) and Carli Fitzgerald (five draw controls).

Scholastic girls’ summaries

George School 16, Neshaminy 10

Stephanie Feinman poured in eight goals and had two assists while Meredith Allen had seven draw controls and four caused turnovers and Kate Harkins had three draw controls to lead George School.

Ann Lemmo added six groundballs and Kate Harkins had five groundballs. Neshaminy got five goals and an assist from Cori Ducco.

Merion Mercy 18, Nazareth Academy 0

Madison Connor scored four goals and Bonnie McShane added three goals and two assists as Caili Guilday posted the shutout.

Strath Haven 18- Haverford High 6

Alex Duckenfield had five goals, two assists, four draw controls, four groundballs and three takeaways while Clare Sherry contributed four goals and two takeaways and Ana White had two goals, two assists, five draw controls, five groundballs and two interceptions for the Panthers.

A solid defense was led by Caroline Murphy, Caroline Kelly, Sumemr O’Donnell and Kelly Molloy.

Haverford was led by Liz Bassani’s three goals

Harriton 19, Upper Darby 6

Jess Schwab totaled seven goals and three assists and Maddy Pisani and Caleigh Foust each had five to lead the Rams. Kelsey Carr and Kelsey Callaghan each scored two for the Royals.

Springfield-Delco 12, Lower Merion 2

Valerie Paolucci scored four goals to lead the third-ranked Cougars.

Radnor 24, Penncrest 2

Courtney Campbell tallied four goals and Allie Martin added three as the top-ranked Red Raiders opened their Central League season with an easy win.

Conestoga 13, Garnet Valley 8

Theresa Brady scored four goals and Meaghan McGillis and Britta Hjelm each had three to lead the Pioneers. Haley Barnes had three goals for the jaguars.

Cheltenham 18, Upper Moreland 2

Liz Heimann scored five goals and had one assist while Rachel McManus had four goals and an assists and Nancy Thomas added three goals and an assist to pace the Panthers to the Suburban One American Conference win.

Pennridge 16, Pottstown 12

Julia Colyar had four goals and an assist and Jen Moyer added three goals and an assist to lead the Rams to the win. Kasey Mock had six goals and two assists for the Trojans.

Council Rock North 13, Central Bucks West 3

Hannah Plappert scored five goals and Kara Magley added three for the Indians. Tori Ueland led the Bucks with two goals.

Upper Dublin 17, Springfield-Montco 6

Amy Cross had four goals and an assist and sister Kelly Cross added three goals and four assists to power the Cards to the Suburban One American win.

Morgan Smith had three goals and two assists for the Spartans.

Hatboro-Horsham 19, CB East 9

Nicole Beck collected six goals and two assists to lead the Hatters.Meredith Lavin led CB East with three goals.

Upper Merion 18, Norristown 3

Kellie Manoppello collected six goals and an assist and Mel Ryan scored five goals to lead the Vikings.

Mount St Joseph 16, Villa Joseph Marie 7

Stevie Wells and Tara Beppel each scored four goals and Olivia Gannon added three to lead the Mount. Mary Clair Walsh had three goals for VJM.

Pennridge 16, Pottstown 12

Stephanie Finley collected seven goals and four assists and Eileen Dombrowski had four goals and four assists while Claire Fitzpatrick added three goals and two assists for sacred Heart in its Catholic Academies win. Annie O’Donnell led the defense.

Great Valley 18, Spring-Ford 5

Colleen O’Malley and Jess Nawojski each tossed in five goals to lead the Patriots. Lauren Binstein led the GV defense.

Unionville 19, Villa Maria Academy 7

Lisa Riondet had four goals and three assists while Lindsey Smith had four goals and two assists and Erin Linthicum scored three goals to lead No. 2 Unionville to the win. Christine Astarita led the defense and Melisaa Lloyd had a big game in the goal with 10 saves.

Chelsea Fay led Villa Maria with three goals.

Penn Charter 15, Germantown Academy 12

Blaine Steinberg scored five goals to pace the Quakers (4-0) in their Iinter-Ac league opener. Brooke Kiley led GA with five goals

Interboro 16, Penn Wood 4

Monica Parcell poured in four goals and Briana Thompson added three goals and five assists while Ali Killian had three three goals and Erin McGrenaghan and Shannon Diehl each had two for the Bucs in their Del-Val opener.

Sun Valley 19, Archbishop Prendergast 2

Caitlin Mullen scored four goals to lead the Vanguards.

Pennsbury 16, Conwell-Egan 5

Katie Kern and Liz Cowley each scored four goals and Jenna Allen added three for the Falcons.

Henderson 14, Phoenixville 1

Kaitlyn Say pumped in six goals to pace the Warriors.

Kennett 21, Chichester 2

Katie Ferree poured in five goals and Carly Richmond added four to lead the Blue Demons.
