The Downingtown West boys’ lacrosse team prepped for its Ches-Mont League showdown against Avon Grove with a 16-3 non-league victory over visiting Central Bucks West on Thursday.

The Whippets, ranked No. 9 in the PIAA poll of the PA Media Rankings, improved to 13-1 with their 10th straight win. They are 6-0 in the league and play on the road Monday against the only other unbeaten Ches-Mont team, Avon Grove, which is 6-0 in the league and 10-2 overall.

Connor Mullen had three goals and one assist and Ryan Higgins scored three goals for Downingtown West on Monday. Matt Vogelgesang added two goals and Eric Sanders had a goal and five assists. Other scorers were Mike Moore, Tyler McWilliams, Brad Shenberger, Scott Siefert, , Jim Scherer, Andrew Beeson and Dillon Ickala.

Whipepts goalie Jason Casperson made seven saves.

“It was a good win for our squad,” said Casperson. “Our only loss was against Penncrest early in the season. We started off very rough, but lately we have jelled together as a team.

“We’re playing together. We know Avon Grove is good; they have a couple good attackmen and they are quick. They also have a good goalie.”

Spencer Macquarrie, Matt Adamski and Alex Wister all scored for CB West and Jake Ross recorded eight saves.
