Ryan Ambler collected three goals and five assists and Joey Jones had three goals and three assists while Jesse McGinley made 16 saves as visiting Abington topped Ridley, 16-5, today in non-league boys’ lacrosse.
The Ghosts, ranked No. 5 in the PA Media Rankings in the PIAA, improved to 12-1 with their 11th straight win. The Green Raiders fell to 10-3
Anthony Hensley and Matt Rambo each added three goals and two assists while Nick Pisko scored three goals. Abington also got great defense from Paul Berger, Anthony Greco and Phil Hagstotz while the offense kept the ball moving and generated 13 assists.
Tyler Johnston led Ridley with three goals.
Haverford School 15, Radnor 5
Stephen Aitken, Carl Walrath, Grove Stewart and Liam O’Connor each had two goals and Joe McCallion added a goal and three assists to lead the Fords to the non-league win.
Conor Kelly made seven saves for the Fords, who improved to 15-3.
Jeff Puckette scored twice for the Red Raiders and freshman goalie Brendan Manderack was solid with 12 saves
Pennsbury 10, Holy Ghost Prep 9
Drew Sweetland made 19 saves and Josh Caven had three goals while Ricky Jutkiewicz and Tim Considine each had two goals and one assist for the Falcons, who improved to 13-1 with the win over their neighborhood rival.
Andrijko Andrusko was masterful as well in the cage with 18 saves for Holy Ghost. Kevin Moses, Colin Becker and Jeremy Omrod each had two goals for the Firebirds.
Penn Charter 11, Montgomery (NJ) 9
Tyler White and Andy Grabowski each scored three goals and Joey Sankey had two goals and two assists while Grant Guyer added two goals and Jackson Tamasitis made 15 saves as the Quakers improved to 7-7.
Lower Merion 20, West Chester East 7
Andrew Mongeluzzi collected five goals and one assist while Jordan Wolf had four goals and one assist and Joey Shallow had four goals to lead a potent attack for the Aces.
Ahmad Zachary added two goals and three assists and John Zeidman scored twice while Nile Thompson had a goal and an assist. Hank Altschuler made 12 saves.
Hill School 11, Lawrenceville School 10
The Blues (7-6, 3-1) won an thrilling Mid-Atlantic game as Tyler Himes made 21 saves and Ryan Strerret scored the game-winner with less than 20 seconds to play.
Hill had not defeated Lawrenceville for 22 years.
Hill got standout defense from seniors Gabe Walker, George Cornelson and Pat Loughnane and Tom Shade neutralized Lawrenceville’s best attackman while Teddy Wolter netted four goals. Brendan Francis also dished off two key assists on goals by Nate Smith-Ide late in the game before Lawrenceville scored twice to tie the game in the final minutes before Strerret became the hero.
Owen J. Roberts 16, Henderson 4
Tyler Graham and Connor Kelly had three goals and two assists each while Jarrett Szczecinski and John Pennell each had two goals for the Wildcats in the non-league win.
Wyoming Seminary 11, Shipley School 10
Julius Mouser had three goals and three assists for the Gators in the non-league loss.
Matt Gagnier added two goals and one assist and Mike Litner had a goal and two assists while EJ Whyte scored twice and Nick Sterge had a goal and an assist. Evan Romano also had an assist.
Penncrest 10, Bayard Rustin 3
Andrew Caldwell had three goals o lead the Lions to the non-league win.
