The Rebels – a team mostly comprised of players from La Salle College High as well as two standouts from Abington – defeated the Hermits, 16-9, today in the 11th/12th-grade championship game of the annual Tri-State Holiday Shootout at the Peddie School (N.J.).
The Rebels dropped their opener to Tri-State Red and then swept their next five games of the two-day tourney. The Rebels defeated the Duke’s Lacrosse Club, 11-7, in the semifinals.
The Rebels – coached by La Salle alums Rob Forster and Tucker Durkin – were led on offense by La Salle’s Kevin Forster (senior, signed with Maryland) and Sean Coleman as well as Abington’s Ryan Ambler (junior, committed to Princeton) and Matt Rambo.
Also standing out were La Salle’s Zack Jones (senior, signed with Towson), Jack Bogorowski (senior, signed with Johns Hopkins), Pete Auteri and John Mastronardo and Wissahickon’s Christian Sivel.
The defense was paced by La Salle’a Mark DiFrangia (senior, signed with St. John’s), Casey Eidenshink and brother Andrew Eidenshink as well as Brendan McGonigle. John Lawlor starred in goal.
