Radnor senior midfielder Kelyn Freedman, who led the Red Raiders to their second straight Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) championship, has been named the MaxPreps National Girls’ Lacrosse Player of the Year.

Freedman had 90 goals and 111 assists in 2010 and helped the Red Raiders finish 26-1 while defeating Springfield-Delco, 14-7, in the PIAA finals. Radnor finished fifth in the final MaxPreps national rankings and in a fifth-place tie in the final LaxPower National Computer/Coaches Rankings.

Freedman, a four-year starter who will play at Georgetown, is a three-time first-team US Lacrosse All-American who became the school’s all-time leading scorer with 436 points (217 goals and 219 assists) over 95 games..

Freedman also was selected to play in the Under Armour Senior All-American Game July 3 at Towson University and was named Academic All-American this year.

Two years ago Freedman was a key cog on a team that won the District 1 Class AAA championship, largely considered to be the big-school state title before the PIAA began sanctioning a state tourney last year.

Freedman also was a standout basketball player and cross country runner. She collected 1,225 career points in basketball and was the Delaware County individual champion in cross country last fall.
