Radnor senior defender Andrea Feldman has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at Bucknell University.

Andrea Feldman

Feldman collected 40 groundballs, 28 draw controls, 18 caused turnovers and five interceptions for the Red Raiders, who went 25-1 and won the first Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association championship.

“I chose Bucknell because when I stepped on the campus, I could immediately see myself going there,” she said. “It has the perfect number of undergraduates and has a very spirited reputation. It has a Division I lacrosse program as well as strong academics, and that’s what I was looking for.”

Feldman, who made the academic distinguished honor roll for her sophomore and junior years, plans to major in biology.

Under coach Caline McHenry, the Bison went 4-2 in the Patriot League and 9-9 overall last season. Philly grads currently on the Bucknell roster include freshman attack Madison Hurwitz (Council Rock), senior defender Stephanie Stevens (Downingtown East), sophomore defender Allie Mongan (Villa Maria Academy) and junior defender Ashley St. John (Conestoga).

“The part of the lacrosse program that sold me was how close the girls on the team are,” Feldman said. “I have grown up with the girls I play with on my high school team, and it was very comforting to hear that Bucknell’s lacrosse team is like a family.”

Feldman is one of seven Radnor seniors to commit to a Division I school. The others are Alyssa Dunlap and Ellie Kraus (Vanderbilt), Kelyn Freedman (Georgetown), Allie Martin (Penn), Allison Heath (Monmouth) and Courtney Campbell (Richmond).

“I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am for the upcoming season,” Feldman said. “Our team goal is definitely to make it to states again and win. If we work together and take it one game at a time that goal can be achieved. My personal goal is to make more of an impact while I am on the field; for instance, getting more involved in the attack.”
