Sophomores Connor Frisina, Tyler Brooke and Bradlee Lord combined for nine goals and four assists to lead Conestoga to an easy 17-2 victory over Hatboro-Horsham today in the first round of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) lacrosse tournament.
The victory advanced the District 1 champion Pioneers (21-2) into the quarterfinals Saturay against Emmaus at a site and time to be determined. Emmaus – which fell to Conestoga, 5-4, on April 10 – edged Lower Merion, 12-11.
Frisina had three goals and two assists and both Brooke and Lord each had three goals and one assist for the Pioneers, ranked No. 1 in the PA Media Rankings and Phillylacrosse.com. Jeff Chu added two goals and Tanner Scott and Brian Dailey each had one goal and one assist while Adam Goins, Dan Cohen, Ben Ross and Jason Klunder each scored once. Billy Flatley added two assists and Ryan Buttenbaum won six of nine face-offs.
Conestoga bolted to a 7-0 lead after one period and had a 12-0 lead at halftime, allowing coach Brian Samson to empty the bench.
The Hatters (18-6), the seventh seed out of District 1, got two goals from Ryan Kreston.
