The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association season began Friday and the best game featured No. 5 North Penn edging No. 10 Boyertown, 8-7. No. 3 Springfield-Delco opened with two wins and No. 2 Unionville cruised in its opener.
The week’s top game features No. 4 Archbishop Carroll playing Florida power Vero Beach (13-0) Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the American Lacrosse Camp in St. Petersburg, Fla. Vero Beach is ranked No. 4 in the country in the LaxPower Computer Rankings and has defeated Virginia power Sts. Stephens and Agnes, 18-8.

1. Radnor (0-0) – The defending state champion Red Raiders, who have gone 48-1 in the past two seasons, open their season Thursday at Bayard Rustin. Preseason: No. 1
2. Unionville (1-0) – The Indians started strong Friday with a 16-6 win over Garnet Valley. They play today at Bryn Mawr, MD. Preseason: No. 2
3. Springfield-Delco (2-0) – The Cougars opened with two easy wins over Owen J. Roberts (14-3) and District 7 contender Peters Township (17-5). They play two teams from Virginia this week on their spring trip, at Norfolk Academy Wednesday and Cape Henry Collegiate Thursday. Preseason: No. 3
4. Archbishop Carroll (0-0) – The Patriots are taking the ultimate test Tuesday when they open by facing Florida super-power Vero Beach (13-0) at 4:30 p.m. in St. Petersburg as part of their spring trip at the All-American Lacrosse Camp. Preseason: No. 4
5. North Penn (1-0) – The Maidens edged Boyertown, 8-7, to open strong. They host Council Rock North Tuesday and play at Ridley Thursday. Preseason: No. 5.
6. Episcopal Academy (0-0) – EA travels this week to Florida for sits spring trip and opens against PA competition April. 7 vs. Springside School. Preseason: No. 6.
7. Downingtown East (1-0) – The Cougars routed Central Bucks South, 16-5, in their opener Friday and hosts Conestoga Wednesday. Preseason: No. 7.
8. Strath Haven (1-0) – The Panthers handled Kennett, 20-5, and had their game today against Bayard Rustin postponed. Preseason: No. 8
9. Merion Mercy (0-0) – The Bears open today at Bishop Shanahan and open their Catholic Academies season Wednesday at rival Villa Maria Academy. Preseason: No. 9
10. Notre Dame (1-0) – The Irish opened strong with a 20-10 rout of Villa Maria Academy and are off until opening their Inter-Ac season April 9 against Agnes Irwin. Preseason: NR.
