Upper Merion graduate Lauren Mateja, who appeared regularly as a blogger on Phillylacrosse.com in the spring as the starting goalie for Division II Mercy College (N.Y.), has transferred to Millersville University.
Mateja posted an 8-6 record as a freshman for the first-year Mustangs, playing
every all but 15 minutes of the season. She had a goals against average of 13.09 and a save percentage of .434. She posted 138 saves.
She was named the East Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Week twice, for the week ending March 7 and the week ending May 2.
Mateja was a Longstreth/Phillylacrosse.com Scholar-Athlete pick in 2009 as a senior at Upper Merion when she earned Second Team Suburban One American Conference honors.

The Marauders return two letter-winners in the cage, rising senior starter Courtney Haggerty (Hatboro-Horsham) and rising senior reserve Madison Allan.
“The decision to leave Mercy was a really tough one,” said Mateja. “The Mercy team and coaches are an amazing group and leaving them was difficult.
“In the end, I wanted to be closer to home for a few reasons. Also, being that Mercy was a smaller campus, I was looking to have a larger college experience and Millersville provides that.”
