Penn Athletics has announced that the Comcast Network (formerly CN8) will air a pair of Quaker lacrosse games this spring at Franklin Field, one men’s game and one women’s game.
The first televised game will take place Friday, April 2 when the Penn women take on the University of Maryland. This game will feature a pair of teams that played in last year’s NCAA Championship semifinal round at Towson, Md.
Penn lost in the semis last year to eventual champion Northwestern in double overtime, while Maryland lost to North Carolina. This season, Penn – winner of the last three Ivy League titles – is off to a 4-1 start and ranked fifth in this week’s IWLCA national poll. Maryland is 6-0 and ranked second nationally behind five-time defending NCAA champion Northwestern.
The second televised contest will take place Saturday, April 17 when the Penn men’s team hosts Harvard in an Ivy League tilt. The Quakers are currently 4-3, and had a four-game win streak snapped Monday by No. 4 Maryland. Harvard is ranked 14th in this week’s USILA national poll and boasts a 3-1 mark.
