One-hundred and thirty teams and 2,600 boys’ lacrosse players from Philadelphia, other hotbeds from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond will continue playing in the second day today at the Third Annual Patriot Games Youth Summer Showcase in Bucks County.

The games are being played at two sites: Herbst Complex in Pipersville and Palisades

The championship format event features divisions for U-11, U-13, U-15 and U-17. Teams from 13 states and Ontario, Canada, have been playing on 16 fields at the two sites.

“Philadelphia needed a youth tournament,” said event co-director Scott Growney. “There are tourneys form high school players, but the youth travel team scene is growing at a phenomenal rate and and this is centrally located for all points, North, South, East and West.

“We have top teams from New York – Long Island – and upstate and from Buffalo – New Jersey and New England as well as from Baltimore and Virginia. We also have teams from California, Texas, Michigan and Ontario – the great Edge program.”

Growney said that field marshals were assigned to each area at the two sites and so that referees and volunteers were organized.

“We want this event to continue growing and be known as a well-organized event where club can get great competition,” he said.
