Many Philadelphia legends were cited in 2009 by being inducted in the US Lacrosse Halls of Fame.
Back in February, nine people were inducted into the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern. That group included Marcia Brumbach, John Begier, Jen O’Donnell, Randy Marks, Bonnie Rosen, Greg Traynor, Marge Watson, Getrude “Gertie” Dunn and George Kruse. Dunn and Kruse were inducted posthumously.
Then in November, O’Donnell and Cheri Greer Brown were inducted into the US Lacrosse National Hall of Fame.
Also in 2009, Philadelphia Wings assistant coach Chris Sanderson was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Sanderson continues to fight a brain tumor as he tries to earn a spot on the Canadian National team, which will attempt to defend its world championship in Manchester, England, this summer.
