Well over 500 bikers are expected to participate Sunday in the 10th Annual Dam Run through Chester County, an event hosted by Hannum’s Harley Davidson that will benefit the HEADsrong Foundation and its fight against blood cancer.
The bikers will gather at the Hannum’s dealership in Chadds Ford (1241 Baltimore Pike) for the 10 a.m. start. The Dam Run will ride the back roads of Chester County to the Conowingo Dam. Bikers will then turn around and return to Hannum’s for food, live music by Lecompt, a fashion show, games and prizes.
Ride registration is by donation only and will benefit the HEADstrong Foundation. The Foundation was created four years ago by former Ridley High lacrosse great Nick Colleluori, who passed away due to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma after a lengthy fight.
Colleluori was a student-athlete at Hofstra University. The HEADstrong Foundation hosts a men’s Fall Ball tournament every fall (this year’s is Oct. 9-10 at Ridley High with 20 teams) and today Hofstra is hosting the 2nd annual Nick Colleluori Women’s Classic.
Hannum’s owner Tommy Hannum – the head coach at Ches-Mont League co-champion Downingtown West – coached Colleluori as a youth player.
The first 500 bikers will receive a Nick Colleluori Relentless t-shirt. Lecompt will play from 1-4 p.m. and vendors will be on hand.
The mission of the HEADstrong Foundation is to support and raise funds for blood cancer cure, treatment and research and to raise public awareness about the disease.
