Recent West Chester East graduate Matt Biegel (attackman) has committed to play Division III lacrosse for Cabrini College.
Biegel scored 42 goals in 2010 and earned second team Ches-Mont League honors. He also

played club lacrosse for Black Bear.
At Cabrini, he Biegel will join Philly recruits Steve Oppenheimer (Germantown Academy, goalie), Mike Moore (Downingtown West, midfielder), Josh Sutterfield (Spring-Ford, face-off specialist) and Billy McCabe (Spring-Ford, defenseman).
Cabrini has won 10 straight Colonial States Athletic Conference championships under coach Steve Colfer, currently coaching Bermuda in the FIL World Championships in Manchester, England.
“I went up there a couple times last year to watch them play and I liked their style of play,” Biegel said. “It has a nice campus. It seemed like the right fit of all the schools.”
Biegel, who plans to study Business or Criminology, noted that the 2010 season was a rebuilding year for East.
“It was a learning experience,” he said.
He said his highlight was in 2009 when East shocked highly-ranked Radnor, 8-5, in the District 1 tournament and advanced to the first Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament.
“No one expected us to beat Radnor and make it that far,” he said. “It was probably the best game I’ve ever played in.”
