Kyle Wharton (Haverford School) tallied four goals and added an assist and freshman defenseman Tucker Durkin (La Salle) collected four caused turnovers and two groundballs as host Johns Hopkins stifled Delaware, 15-7, today in men’s lacrosse action.
Steve Boyle had four goals and Michael Kimmel added three goals and four assists for No. 5 Hopkins (2-0), Matt Dolente (Malvern Prep) won 6 of 11 face-offs and Eric DiProspero (Unionville) had an assist, a groundball and a caused turnover.
Martin Cahill led the 13-ranked Blue Hens (2-1) with four goals while Kevin Kaminski (Strath Haven) had a goal and an assist and Pat Lombard (La Salle) had an assist.
The Blue Jays led just 6-4 after a John Austin goal for Delaware with 6:53 remaining in the second quarter. But Hopkins went on a 9-1 tear the rest of the way.
Bryant 7, Army 6
Defenseman Joe Rauchut (Penn Charter) had two groundballs and two caused turnovers and J.K. Poirier (Malvern Prep) had an assist as Bryant improved to 2-1 with the win over the Black Knights. Rob McCallion (Episcopal Academy) had five groundballs for Army.
