Recent Ridley graduate Casey Decker (defenseman) will play Division III lacrosse at Elizabethtown College.

Ridley's Casey Decker will play at Elizabethtown

Raiders finish 13-7 and reach the second round of the District 1 tournament.

Decker is majoring in Criminal Justice, but said he may switch to education.

“I chose Elizabethtown because I really like the campus and since coach (Terry) Corcoran has taken over, the program has been on the rise and I want to keep it going,” Decker said.

Elizabethtown already has a strong Philly connection. Thirteen players on the 2010 Blue Jays’ squad were from Philly and this year’s recruits include Interboro’s Adam Moore (goalie) and Vince Latham (midfielder), Phoenixville’s Josh Frey (goalie), Bayard Rustin’s Tim Shaw (midfielder) and Hill School’s Tyler Schindler (midfielder).

Decker also was a standout football player (receiver, linebacker) who helped Ridley win the District 1 with an upset win (19-10) over North Penn. The Raiders fell to eventual state champion La Salle in the state semifinals.

“Football season was probably the most fun I’ve ever had,” Decker said. “We made a great run beating the No. 1 team in PA (North Penn) and it was great because we had the whole town behind us.”

Decker said the 2010 lacrosse season had its ups and downs. The season ended in heartbreak with a 9-8, triple-overtime loss to league rival Radnor in the district tourney.

“Our season wasn’t as good as we wanted,” Decker said. “We had the talent to go further than just the second round of the playoffs and with the tradition of Ridley lacrosse, you’re expected to win.

“It was fun playing with my friends for the last time but it was disappointing to lose in the second round. “
