Recent Owen J. Roberts graduate Andrew Boyer is a freshman recruit at St. John’s University.
Boyer was the Pioneer Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 when he helped lead the Wildcats to their third straight league title. A First Team all-league performer, Boyer saved 62 percent of hit shots in helping OJR finish 16-6 and reach the second round of the District 1 tournament.
Boyer had some huge games last year, notching 15 saves in the 11-9 victory over Spring-Ford in the PAC-10 title game while stopped 21 shots in a 9-3 season-ending loss to Springfield-Delco.
Boyer is one of three goalies on the St. John’s roster and one of four Philly freshmen on the Red Storm roster. The other Philly players are Springfield-Delco’s Colin Keegan (attackman) and Joe Addona (defenseman) and Downingtown West’s Connor Mullen (midfielder).
