Penncrest senior midfielder Andrew Caldwell has committed to play Division III lacrosse at national power Salisbury University.

Caldwell had a team-high 44 goals last year for Penncrest, which went 12-7 and reached the second round of the District 1 tournament.

He was a Second Team All-Central League pick and competed in the adidas All-American Games this past summer. He plays for the Duke’s Lacrosse Club and Rebel Elite.

Caldwell is looking into a business or education major, but has not completely decided.
“I really liked the coaches,” said Caldwell. “A lot of other Penncrest players have gone there and done really well.”

Salisbury has won eight national titles since 1994, under 23 year Coach Jim Berkman, despite falling to Tufts, 9-6, in last year’s NCAA title.

Caldwell is looking for the Lions to contend again in the Central League in 2011.

“Playing at Penncrest has been great,” said Caldwell. “Last year especially; it felt good to finally break through and have a good year.”

“Everyone on the team is really great,” said Caldwell. “Next year I expect to have a repeat of last year.”
