Summit (N.J.) junior midfielder David Kalin has made a commitment to the admissions process to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania.

Summit (N.J.) junior David Kalin has committed to Penn

Kalin was a member of a team that finished a perfect 23-0 and won the New Jersey group I State Championship last year. The Hilltoppers were ranked No. 5 in the final Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse rankings and No. 7 in the Lacrosse Magazine poll.

Kalin plans to study Business at the Wharton School.

“Penn has great academics and that played a big part in my decision,” he said. “I was also very impressed with Coach (Mike) Murphy along with the other Penn coaches and the direction that the team is heading.

“I also had a great time on my visit with the guys on the team and I am really excited to be a part of the program in two years.”

Kalin also considered Yale, Brown, Bucknell, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Dartmouth. Last summer he attended the Top 205, Blue Chip 225 Elite and Maverik Showtime 160 camps and made the all star games at both Blue Chip 225 and Maverik Showtime

Summit should again be a Group I power in 2011.

“We lost a lot of really talented guys from last year, but we will continue to work hard and we are confident that we can have another good season,” said Kalin.

Kalin also wanted to thank Summit coach Jim Davidson for his help throughout the recruiting process.
