Neshaminy's Ryan Watson

Neshaminy senior long stick midfielder Ryan Watson has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Penn State Abington.

Watson is a two-year starter who last year was named Suburban One National Conference Honorable Mention. He played club lacrosse for Arrowhead.

Watson liked the idea of playing for a young program (in its second year) and was impressed with Penn State Abington coach Keith Brandon. Also, there are two Neshaminy grads already on the roster, freshmen Ryan Mawhinney (defenseman) and Jason Thibodeau (midfielder/attackman).

“It’s a new program and it’s building, kind of like at Neshaminy,” said Watson, who plans to major in Criminal Justice.

“I plan to become a detective,” he added. “A lot of my family members are in the police department.”

Watson said he and the other two Neshaminy captains, Chris Brady and Steve Lawellan are trying to help the young Falcons continue to improve. The team is currently 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the Suburban One National Conference.

“We want to finish the year strong,” Watson said. “We have a young team, but we have the potential to be a good team. We we need to win the games we’re expected to win.”
