Methacton senior attackman Cody Ridgway has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Eastern University.

Ridgway led the Warriors with 25 goals last year and earned Second Team Pioneer Athletic Conference honors, helping Methacton finish 10-7 overall. He plays club lacrosse for LB3.

Methacton's Cody Ridgway has committed to Eastern

At Eastern, Ridgway will be entering a solid, up-and-coming program. Coach Brandon Childs took the Eagles to an 11-5 record and second-place finish in the Middle Atlantic Conference during his second season.

“I really liked the guys on the lacrosse team and I was looking for something small and close to home,” said Ridgway. “And the coach seems like a great guy, who definitely has his team together and behind him all the way.”

Ridgway plans to major in secondary education. “Helping kids is just something I always just thought I’d like to do,” he said.

Ridgway is confident the Warriors will be a factor in 2011 in the PAC-10. Last year Methacton made it to a play-in game for the league post-season tournament.

“I have had a great experience at Methacton, both on and off the field,” said Ridgway. “Coach (Sean) Weston (the former coach) got our program going and (current) coach (Natehaniel Ryan) helped take my game to another level.”

“I am looking forward to a good year. We have a lot of great seniors who are able to help the younger players and bring a good attitude to the team.

“This year we all have high hopes and are looking to make it to playoffs.”
