Hun School (NJ) junior attackman Steffen Gratch (Twist Lacrosse Club) has committed to the admissions process to play Division I lacrosse at Princeton University.
Gratch, of Doylestown, had 34 goals and 32 assists last year for the Raiders (8-9 last year). Gratch, who played youth lacrosse in the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel CYO program, is a High Honors student.
Gratch, who plans to study business, is familiar with the Princeton area since Hun is located only several miles away.
“Obviously, Princeton is renowned as one of the best academic schools in the entire world,” said Gratch. “The lacrosse team is unbelievable and I’d love to be part of it.
“They have the full package and I’d like to study in their business program. They have a great network of people that have graduated from the program.”
Tigers second-year coach Chris Bates, the former Drexel coach and graduate of Archbishop Ryan, was a major reason Gratch chose Princeton. Gratch must still progress through the admissions process.
“He’s done great job so far, just looking at the preseason polls,” said Gratch, noting the Tigers are ranked No. 5 in the Laxnews.com rankings. “He brought in a great freshman class and the coaches are doing everything to make the team a winner. I want to be a part of the program.”
