Haverford High senior face-off specialist-midfielder Nick Chambers has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Widener University.
Chambers, who also plays club lacrosse for Twist, plans to major in Political Science.
“Out of all the schools the team felt most like a family,” said Chambers. “Everyone was real close and I immediately felt like part of the team.
“Also, I like the feel of the campus. It’s real modern.”
Chambers also liked the Widener coaching staff and the team’s past success. Widener, coached by Pride grad Jamie Lockard (Archbishop Carroll), last season won its 12th Middle Atlantic Conference title and clinched its eighth trip to the NCAA Tournament. Lockard was named the Coach of the Year in the MAC.
Chambers said expectations are high at Haverford for 2011.
“I think this is probably the best Haverford team in a while,” he said. “There are lot of seniors and lot of really good freshmen. We won the Cabrini fall league and we’re starting indoor next week.”
