Association championship and received a national ranking in the Top 10 in every poll.

Sturm, a member of the Honor Roll, will major in Marketing.

“I chose Scranton because I wanted to go somewhere near home but also not too close,” he said. “I also wanted to go somewhere I could play as a freshman or sophomore.

“I loved what it had to offer academically and at the time (then) coach Kevin Dugan (now an assistant at Notre Dame) really sold me on the school, about lacrosse and about becoming a better person. I really look forward to working with (recently hired) coach (Jim) Rogalski from Rutgers. I love his goals and his willingness to win a National Championship.”

Sturm will join Philly recruits Wes Meehan (La Salle, midfielder), Ryan Saraceni (La Salle, defenseman) and John Gregitis (St. Joseph’s Prep, midfielder) at Scranton.

Sturm said it was a thrill to play for a team that went 24-2 and claimed its first state title, avenging a loss to La Salle in last year’s state finals.

“This season could not have been better,” he said. “We really came together as a group. It was more of an honor to be with the senior class. Those guys are my best friends.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better state game either; playing La Salle, the team we lost to a year ago. This was the team we wanted – it was just picture-perfect all the way around.”
