Lacrosse leader Udinski named head boys’ coach at Lansdale Catholic

Tim Udinski, a fixture in the Philadelphia lacrosse scene, has been named head boys’ lacrosse coach at Lansdale Catholic.

Udinski was one of the founders of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel CYO lacrosse and has served as director of the program. He also is finishing his fourth year as President of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association (SEPYLA) and is entering a term as vice president of the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association.

A graduate of Central Bucks West who began playing lacrosse at the club level at Temple, Udinski is also a director and coach for the Select Lacrosse club program in Bucks County. He also has been a high school referee and has been involved in coaching and youth clinics with US Lacrosse.

Udinski replaces Brian Kilpatrick, who resigned after three seasons to take the head coaching job at Pope John Paul II, a new school in the Pioneer athletic Conference.

“I’m very excited to be at Lansdale Catholic,” said Udinski. “It’s a young program, but it’s had some success. My goal is to build on that success and really to build LC into a first-class high school boys’ lacrosse program.”

The Crusaders went 32-21 under Kilpatrick the past three years. Last year LC – which played in the Pioneer Athletic Conference before moving to the Catholic League two years ago – went 6-1 in the Northern Division and reached the league semifinals.

Udinski believes the growth of lacrosse in the Bucks County and Upper Montgomery County areas will help bring talent to LC. He also noted that the archdiocese has planned to build a new school for LC in the Perkasie area.

“The No. 1 thing is that we’re in the Philadelphia area and it’s a very rich lacrosse area that is growing more and more,” he said. “There are more quality players. Every high school has the opportunity to build itself because there are just a lot of tremendous youth players

“Plus, the fact that LC is building a new high school in a few years could draw more kids to the school.”
