Hill School senior goalie Himes heads recruits for Providence

Hill School goalie Tyler Himes is one of an incredible class of 25 recruits for 2010-11 for the Providence College men’s lacrosse team. Providence coach Chris Burdick announced the program’s 2014 recruiting class last week.

“I am very pleased to welcome these gifted student-athletes to our lacrosse program,” said Burdick, who will guide the Friars for the 12th season in 2010. “There is a growing commitment to the sport of lacrosse at Providence College and these student-athletes will play a large role in our growth in the BIG EAST Conference.

“In addition to the skill and athleticism these individuals will bring to the lacrosse program, these young men will provide a great deal of character and commitment to the Providence College academic community. A special thank you goes out to former assistant Bennett Murphy for his hard work and dedication while building this recruiting class.”

GOALKEEPER

Tyler Himes – Spring City, Pa./The Hill School

Tyler Himes is a 6-foot-3-inch, 195-pound goalkeeper from Spring City, Pa. Hill is a two-year starter in lacrosse at The Hill School, where he’s recorded a 7.9 goals against average and .602 save percentage for his career. Also considered: Dartmouth, Brown

ATTACK

Robbie Cordisco – Weston, Conn./Weston

Robbie Cordisco is a 5-foot-8-inch, 160-pound attackman from Weston, Conn. At Weston High School, he has recorded 78 goals and 42 assists in three seasons of lacrosse, garnering First Team All-State honors as a junior. He also was a First Team All-State selection in football in 2009. Also considered: Villanova, Dartmouth, Hobart, Army

Robert Fleming – Attack – Washington, D.C./Bullis School

Robert Fleming is a 6-foot, 170-pound attackman from Washington, D.C. Fleming competed at St. James High School as a freshman and the Bullis School as a sophomore and junior. He has posted 47 goals and 32 assists in his career. Also considered: Air Force, Army, Quinnipiac

Conor Kenny – Gaithersburg, Md./Gonzaga

Conor Kenny is a 6-foot-1-inch, 190-pound attackman from Gaithersburg, Md. A three-year starter at Gonzaga College High School, Kenny has posted career stats of 36 goals and 31 assists. He earned All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Honorable Mention accolades in 2008 and 2009. Kenny is a member of the National Association of High School Scholars. Also considered: Navy, Fairfield, Dartmouth

Adam MacBride – Severna Park, Md./Severna Park

Adam MacBride is a 6-foot-4-inch, 200-pound attackman from Severna Park, Md. He has posted career totals of 50 goals and 38 assists at Severna Park High School. As a junior, MacBride earned All-County honors. Also considered: Navy, Delaware, Hofstra

Peter Murphy – Louisville, Ky./Saint Xavier

Peter Murphy is a 5-foot-8-inch, 140-pound attackman from Louisville, Ky. At Saint Xavier High School, Murphy has helped the lacrosse team earn back-to-back Kentucky State Championships. As a sophomore and junior, he ranked first in the state in total points and led his team in goals and assists. For his efforts, Murphy was an All-America nominee as a junior and earned First Team All-State honors as a sophomore and junior. Also considered: Army, Detroit Mercy, VMI, Robert Morris, Holy Cross, Siena, Jacksonville

Ben Phillips – Easton, Md./Easton

Ben Phillips is a 5-foot-9-inch, 165-pound attackman from Easton, Md. As a junior, Phillips set Easton High School’s single-season lacrosse scoring record with 56 goals and 31 assists and ranks seventh on the school’s all-time points list. He earned Second Team North Bayside Conference All-Star accolades in 2007 and 2008. Phillips is a member of the National Honor Society. Also considered: Cornell, Maryland, Villanova, Dartmouth, Army, Sacred Heart, Bellarmine

Donald “Wit” Vivian – Attack – Hamilton, Mass./Middlesex

Donald “Wit” Vivian is a 5-foot-9-inch, 170-pound attackman from Hamilton, Mass. Serving as team captain at the Middlesex School, Vivian has posted career totals of 46 goals and 35 assists and has garnered All-ISL Honorable Mention accolades. He is also the football team captain at Middlesex. Also considered: Bucknell, Lehigh, Holy Cross, Hobart

Sean Wright – Silver Spring, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel

Sean Wright is a 6-foot-7-inch, 210-pound attackman from Silver Spring, Md. At Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Wright has posted career totals of 65 goals and 70 assists. For his efforts, Wright earned Second Team All-WCAC honors as a junior and All-WCAC Honorable Mention recognition as a sophomore. He was also named to the Under Armour Underclassmen All-America Team for the Washington D.C. area. Also considered: UMBC, Notre Dame, Army

MIDFIELD

Bryan Annecchino – Darien, Conn./Darien

Bryan Annecchino is a 5-foot-7-inch, 150-pound midfielder from Darien, Conn. At Darien High School, Annecchino has recorded career totals of 31 goals and 12 assists. He has helped lead Darien to three-consecutive Connecticut State Championships and scored two goals in the championship game as a junior. Also considered: Notre Dame, Ohio State, Dartmouth, Brown, Denver

Andrew Barton – Baltimore, Md./St. Paul’s School

Andrew Barton is a 6-foot-3-inch, 180-pound midfielder from Baltimore, Md. He has recorded 11 assists over three seasons at St. Paul’s High School. Also considered: Bryant, Towson, Villanova

Nick Martone – Belmont, Mass./Belmont

Nick Martone is a 6-foot, 185-pound midfielder from Belmont, Mass. At Belmont High School, he posted 45 goals and 27 assists as a junior, earning First Team All-Middlesex League honors. Also considered: Vermont, St. John’s, Brown, Massachusetts, Fairfield, Rutgers

Tim Modesti – Fairport, N.Y./Fairport

Tim Modesti is a 5-foot-9-inch, 165-pound midfielder from Fairport, N.Y. Modesti helped lead Fairport High School to the New York State Section V Championship for the first time since 2002 as a junior. He also plays hockey at Fairport. Also considered: Massachusetts, St. John’s, Robert Morris, Lafayette

Matt Mueller – Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown

Matt Mueller is a 6-foot-3-inch, 200-pound midfielder from Millstone Township, N.J. At Allentown High School, Mueller led the lacrosse team with 35 goals and 15 assists as a junior. For his efforts, Mueller earned First Team All-Valley and Second Team All-CVC honors. As a sophomore, he led the team with 47 goals and 10 assists. Mueller also plays football and baseball at Allentown. Also considered: Albany, Brown, Bryant, Loyola, Saint Joseph’s (Pa.)

Brendan Schindel – Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point

Brendan Schindel is a 6-foot-2-inch, 180-pound midfielder from Round Rock, Texas. He is a two-time captain at Stony Point High School, posting career totals of 72 goals and 52 assists. During his junior season, Schindel earned All-State and First Team All-District honors and was named the Most Valuable Player of his District Tournament. Schindel is a member of the National Honor Society. Also considered: Dartmouth

Robby Stack – Medfield, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hermon

Robby Stack is a 6-foot, 175-pound midfielder from Medfield, Mass. He has played two seasons of lacrosse at Xaverian Brothers High School and will play at Northfield Mt. Hermon Prep School in the upcoming season. In his junior and senior years at Xaverian, Stack garnered Catholic Conference First-Team and Eastern Massachusetts All-Star honors. He is a member of the French National Honor Society. Also considered: Siena

Mark Treichler – Skillman, N.J./Montgomery

Mark Treichler is a 5-foot-11-inch, 165-pound midfielder from Skillman, N.J. Treichler helping lead Montgomery High School to the New Jersey State Championship title in 2007 and the championship game in 2008. He has posted career totals of 36 goals, 10 assists and 86 ground balls and has earned Third Team All-State, All-Skyland Conference and All-Somerset County honors and Second Team All-Area accolades. Also considered: Denver, Holy Cross, Hartford, and Army

MIDFIELD/FACE-OFF SPECIALIST

Ryan Shaw – East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton

Ryan Shaw is a 5-foot-8-inch, 170-pound midfielder/face-off specialist from East Hampton, N.Y. At East Hampton High School, he has posted 109 career points and a .710 career face-off percentage. For his efforts, Shaw earned Suffolk County All-Division honors in 2008 and 2009. Also considered: Manhattan, Stony Brook, Hofstra, Cornell, Dartmouth

DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD

Peter Banta – Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant

Peter Banta is a 5-foot-10-inch, 170-pound defenseman from Tampa, Fla. At H.B. Plant High School, he was an All-America nominee as a junior and garnered Long-Stick Midfielder Player of the Year and First Team All-League honors in 2008 and 2009. He was also a Second Team All-League selection in 2007. Banta is a member of the school’s National Honor Society. Also considered: Dartmouth, Navy, Lehigh

Ryan Martin – Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder

Ryan Martin is a 6-foot-3-inch, 195-pound defensive midfielder from Webster, N.Y. At Webster Schroeder High School, he has posted 104 ground balls in two seasons of action. As a junior, Martin received All-League Honorable Mention accolades and was named a New York State Scholar Athlete. Also considered: Marist, Sacred Heart, LeMoyne

Giancarlo Sangiacomo – San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep

Giancarlo Sangiacomo is a 6-foot, 170-pound defensive midfielder from San Francisco, Calif. Sangiacomo will serve as team captain as a senior at St. Ignatius. Also considered: Villanova, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Drexel, Canisius

CLOSE DEFENSE

Bobby Femia – New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan

Bobby Femia is a 6-foot-2-inch, 195-pound defenseman from New Canaan, Conn. At New Canaan High School, he dished out two assists and picked up 83 ground balls as a junior, earning All-FCIAC Honorable Mention accolades. Also considered: Brown, Denver, Bryant, Fairfield, Hobart

Luke Kochanowski – Wilbraham, Mass./Millbrook School

Luke Kochanowski is a 6-foot-3-inch, 210-pound defenseman from Wilbraham, Mass. At the Millbrook School, Kochanowski has posted career stats of seven goals, 10 assists and 146 ground balls. For his efforts, he earned WNELA First Team All-League accolades in 2009 and was a Second Team All-Western Mass. selection in 2008. Also considered: Georgetown, Hofstra, Towson, Navy, Fairfield, Lehigh, Sacred Heart

Zach Rogers – Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes

Zach Rogers is a 6-foot-4-inch, 210-pound defenseman from Palos Verdes, Calif. At Palos Verdes High School, Rogers was named to the All-Bay League First Team and the West Side Lax Elite 25 as a sophomore and junior. He also plays basketball at Palos Verdes. Also considered: Massachusetts, Fairfield, Hartford, Canisius

Bryce Samartino – Weston, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas

Bryce Samartino is a 6-foot-2-inch, 210-pound defenseman/LSM from Weston, Fla. At St. Thomas Aquinas High School, he has recorded career totals of six goals, 14 assists and 60 ground balls. In his sophomore and junior seasons, Samartino was named to the US Lacrosse All-District and All-League teams, as well as the Miami Herald and Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel All-County squads. Also considered: Hofstra, Stony Brook, Jacksonville, Albany
