Haverford School has released its 2011 schedule, which includes dates with three Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) powers and several other out-of-state teams as well as many of the top Pennsylvania teams.
The Fords, who went 20-4 last year and shared the Inter-Ac League crown while finishing ranked No. 5 in the country by Lacrosse Magazine, already have 16 players committed to Division I colleges. It is expected that Haverford School will be ranked among the top few teams in the national preseason polls.
Haverford School opens with MIAA squads St. Paul’s (March 11, away), Loyola-Blakefield (March 15, home) and McDonogh (March 19, away) and also plays out-of-state powers Deerfield Academy (Mass.), St. Augustine (NJ) and Darien (Conn.). The game against Deerfield will be played at Princeton University on March 26 at 10 a.m., before the Tigers host Yale in an Ivy League game.
The Fords also have dates with defending state champion Conestoga (April 30 at the Katie Samson Festival) and state runner-up La Salle (April 23 at home), Catholic League power St. Joseph’s Prep (April 9, home), Suburban One power Abington (April 2, home) and Central League power Radnor (April 23, away).
The Fords, of course, also have their two Inter-Ac League games with co-champion Malvern Prep (April 12 away and May 3 at home). The season ends with the Inter-Ac Invitational.
