Duke University men’s lacrosse coach John Danowski announced today that junior goalie Sean Brady – who has been competing with freshman Dan Wigrizer (Haverford School) for the starting spot – has been suspended “for conduct unbecoming of a member of the program.”
Brady, of Huntington Bay, N.Y., played 45 minutes in goal last season and finished with 10 saves as the Blue Devils’ backup goalie. No other information about the suspension was released.
Duke is the No. 1 ranked team in the Inside Lacrosse Division I preseason poll.
Wigrizer, a First Team All-Phillylacrosse.com pick last year and two-time All-American, will compete with several other upperclassmen that have no experience for the starting nod. The other candidates are seniors Devon Sherwood and Max Wygod and junior Mike Rock.
Wigrizer led the Fords to a co-championship in the Inter-Ac League last year as well as the title of the first Inter-Ac post-season tournament. He also played in the Under Armour Senior All-American game and was Inside Lacrosse’s No. 4 rated goalie recruit.
