The GMH Lacrosse Club will play England’s National Team in a benefit lacrosse game for the HEADstrong Foundation on Saturday (11:30 a.m.) at Haverford School.

Team England is hosting the 2010 FIL World Championships, which will be held July 15-24 in Manchester. Team England will show its support for the HEADstrong Foundation in the World Games by wearing the HEADstrong lime-green laces.

GMH Philadelphia LC is made up of post-collegiate players from the Philadelphia area, and is a member of the American Lacrosse League. GMH Philadelphia LC has won three consecutive Philadelphia Division American Lacrosse League Championships, and was the ALL Blue Conference runner-up to the New York Athletic Club the last three seasons

GMH Philadelphia LC is the successor to MAB Paints team, which was formed in 1994, when Eagle’s Eye Lacrosse Club, a perennial power, and MAB Paints LC, merged to form the MAB Paints Philadelphia Lacrosse Club as members of the United States Club Lacrosse Association (USCLA). In 2006, the MAB Paints Philadelphia LC became the first men’s club lacrosse team from the Philadelphia area, either in the USCLA or the Atlantic Lacrosse League to win a men’s post collegiate club championship. There are currently 14 players from the 2006 championship team on the current GMH Philadelphia LC roster.

The HEADstrong Foundation is dedicated to the life of Ridley graduate and former Hofstra student-athlete Nicholas Colleluori, who died fur years ago due to Non-Hodgin’s Lymphoma. The Foundation generates funds and awareness for blood cancer research. It also distributes grants and assistance to survivors of blood cancer, provides financial assistance to families that are experiencing the hardships of having a sick family member, and provides scholarships and grants for students with ambitions of entering the medical field.
