Freedman (Radnor) named top freshman recruit in nation by Inside Lacrosse in September issue; HH’s Purvis is No. 11

Kelyn Freedman, who led Radnor to its second straight Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association championship in June, has been named the No. 1 women’s recruit in the nation by Inside Lacrosse in its Girl’s Top 25 Freshman list.

this week.

Freedman, a midfielder headed to Georgetown, led the Red Raiders to a 26-1 season and received virtually every possible post-season honor.

Freedman, who collected 91 goals and 110 assists, was named the MaxPreps National Player of the Year and the Phillylacrosse.com Player of the Year. She was a US Lacrosse All-American and Academic All-American and in May was named the MVP for Team Philly in the Senior division at the US Lacrosse National Tournament.

After the season Freedman was the MVP at the Vail Shootout while playing for the Heather Leigh Albert squad. She also stood out in the Under Armour All-American Game in July and then again in the US Lacrosse Champion Showcase later that month when she was named team MVP for the winning squad. Freedman was a three-time All-American.

Also listed in the Top 25 was Hatboro-Horsham’s Lauren Purvis, at No. 11. Purvis, who will play at Penn State, was a US Lacrosse and Under Armour All-American who also played in the Champion Showcase.

Also, six Philly women were named to the Freshman Watchlist. They include:

Midfielder Margaret Corzel (Merion Mercy) North Carolina
Midfielder Amy Cross (Upper Dublin) Syracuse
Defender Alyssa Dunlap (Radnor) Vanderbilt
Midfielder/attack Allie Martin (Radnor) Penn
Attack Kasey Mock (Pottstown) Syracuse
Attack/midfielder Lindsey Smith (Unionville) Penn

In addition, Penn recruit Shannon Mangini (attack/Garden City, NY) was on the Watchlist.
