Denise Groeber Ferretti, a standout defender in her college days and the former coach at Upper Dublin, is one of six individuals and one team that will comprise the 2010 induction class of the East Stroudsburg University Athletic Hall of Fame as part of Homecoming weekend festivities on Saturday, October 9.

Besides Groeber Ferretti (Class of 1993), who also was a field hockey standout at ESU, the class includes women’s basketball player Nancy Weaver ’74, women’s soccer player Terri Meierhofer ’98, men’s basketball player Earle Greer ’84, football and baseball player Tim Bishop ’86 and men’s soccer player Mike Feniger ’99. The 1994-95 PSAC champion women’s basketball team rounds out the class as the eighth team inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The Athletic Hall of Fame Brunch will be held in the Keystone Room with registration at 9 a.m., followed by the brunch at 9:30 a.m. and the induction ceremony. Tickets are $30 and are available by e-mail at estolkowski@po-box.esu.edu. Tickets for the football game vs. Kutztown, which begins at 2 p.m., are $10.

Groeber Ferretti ’93 was the female student-athlete to be named to All-America teams in two sports under head coach Sandy Miller. She was a first team All-American in field hockey and lacrosse and captain of both teams as a senior, was also named to the All-PSAC team in lacrosse, and was a member of the Warriors’ 1990 NCAA Tournament field hockey team.

Ferretti resides in Souderton and has been a first grade teacher at Lower Gwynedd Elementary School in the Wissahickon School District for 13 years and also coached field hockey and lacrosse at Upper Dublin High School.
