Final LaxPower Girls’ Rankings: Radnor ties for fifth with Moorestown (NJ)

Radnor, which repeated as Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) girls’ champion, has finished in a tie for fifth place in the final LaxPower National Coaches/Computer Ratings for the 2010 season.

McDonogh School, Owings Mills (Md.), is LaxPower’s national champion for 2010. The Eagles, who capped off a 20-0 season by winning the IAAM-A title, finished in first place both in the coaches’ poll and in the computer ratings. McDonogh had 19 of 22 first-place votes among the coaches. This is the sixth season in a row that they have finished in the Top 10. Garden City (21-0) garnered 2 first-place votes after winning their 11th New York State Class B championship.

Rounding out the top programs in the country for 2010 are five perennial powers:

#2: Garden City, Garden City, New York (21-0) — New York Class B state champion
#3: Winters Mill, Westminster, Maryland (18-1) — Maryland Class 3A-2A state champion
#4: Ridgewood, Ridgewood, New Jersey (22-1) — New Jersey TOC state champion
#5: Radnor, Radnor Township, Pennsylvania (26-1) — Two-time Pennsylvania PIAA state champion
#5: Moorestown, Moorestown, New Jersey (22-1) — 10th year in a row in Top 10

Other Philly teams in he Top 50 include: Springfield-Delco (31st), Unionville (37th), Great Valley (43rd) and Archbishop Carroll (47th).

The final rankings were compiled using Lax Power’s CCR rating formula, which combines the national computer rankings with a national poll. The computer ratings used for the rankings are based on 18,686 game scores for 2,509 high school teams. The poll is a product of rankings by 22 high school coaches from around the country. Each of these parameters represents 50% of the final tallied results.
