Erin Linthicum scored six goals and Kathleen Insetta added four as Unionville defeated Great Valley, 16-11, today to claim the third-place game in the District 1 tournament at Henderson.
The Indians (20-3) will play the District 3 runner-up, Manheim Township or Hempfield, Tuesday in the first round of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) tournament. Great Valley (21-2) will face District 12 champion Archbishop Carroll.
Lisa Riondet had two goals and three assists and Melissa Lloyd made 12 saves as Unionville avenged an early-season loss to the Pats.
Sara McBride led Great Valley with four goals and Colleen O’Malley added three.
Downingtown East 14, Strath Haven 12
Kelly Devlin scored four goals while Christine Stevenson and Emily Solenberger each had three goals and an assist as the Cougars earned the fifth seed in District 1.
Downingtown East will face the District 11 champion (Emmaus or Nazareth) in the first round of the PIAA tourney Tuesday.
Ana White paced the Panthers with four goals and three assists and Jenna Frost scored four goals. Strath Haven will meet the District 1 runner-up (Radnor or Springfield-Delco) in the first round of states.
North Penn 11, Conestoga 10
Abbie Hartman tallied five goals and Macie Hauck had the game-winner with 1:08 to play as the Maidens earned the final District 1 berth for the PIAA playoffs. North Penn will meet the District 1 champion in the first round of states.
Halie Lear added two goals for the Maidens while Dani Horn had an assist and five draw controls. Sarah Prall made 11 saves.
