Delaware scholastic state tourney: Tower Hill boys, St. Mark’s girls advance to semifinals

Michael Pettit scored three goals to lead Tower Hill past Archmere Academy, 8-6, Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the Delaware High School Boys Lacrosse Tournament.

Ripley Nielsen and Hunter Bolling each added two goals and Demetrius Murray made 10 saves for the third-seeded Hillers (12-3), who will face Cape Henlopen in the semifinals.

Other quarterfinal scores were: No. 1 seed Salesianum School 14, Tatnall School 6, No. 2 seed Cape Henlopen 16, Concord 4, and Wilmington Friends 11, Caesar Rodney 6.

St. Mark’s girls earn quarterfinal win over Archmere

Kristina Mooney pumped in four goals and Taylor Kolle added three as No. 2 seed St. Mark’s claimed an 11-7 win over the Auks in the Delaware High School Girls Lacrosse Tournament.

The Lady Spartans (14-2) will meet St. Andrew’s Tuesday (8 p.m.) at Dover High in the semifinals. St. Andrew’s defeated Wilmington Charter, 20-8. The other semifinal matchup will feature Tower Hill and Cape Henlopen. Tower Hill downed Ursuline, 13-7 and Cape toppled Middletown, 16-3.

Haley Schweizer added two goals for St. Mark’s while Taryn Schweizer and Michelle Boots added one apiece. Anna Rivituso recorded five saves for St. Mark’s.

Alissa Salvitti notched three goals for Archmere (10-6).
