Delaware men to host four-team fall scrimmage Sunday

The defending Colonial Athletic Association champion University of Delaware men’s lacrosse squad will host a four-team Fall Scrimmage Tournament Sunday at the Delaware Practice Fields.

The tournament will include Delaware as well as Ohio State, Navy, and Siena. The six-game tournament will begin at 11 a.m. and will be held on the two turf fields located behind Delaware Field House.

The event is free and open to the public. There is no seating but fans my watch the games from the sidelines. Each game will last one hour with teams competing for three quarters 20 minutes in length.

The day will start off with Delaware taking on Ohio State and Navy taking on Siena at 11 a.m. At 12:15 p.m., Delaware will face Navy with Ohio State taking on Siena. The day will conclude with the Blue Hens taking on Siena and Ohio State facing Navy at 1:30 p.m.

Head coach Bob Shillinglaw’s squad, which captured the Colonial Athletic Association title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago, returns six of its top 10 scorers as well as All-CAA goalkeeper Noah Fossner this spring. The Hens have captured two CAA titles in the last four years and advanced to the NCAA Tournament four times since 2005.

Ohio State went 7-8 a year ago while Navy posted a 7-9 record and advanced to the Patriot League championship game and Siena went 12-5 and advanced to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title game.
