Kevin Stockel scored four goals and added an assist while Dennis Adam added three goals, powering Drexel (3-1) to a 12-7 win over host Binghamton (1-3) in a non-conference men’s lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon.
Stockel had a goal and an assist in the opening quarter as Drexel raced out to a 5-2 lead. From there, the Dragons showed no signs of letting up and took an 8-3 advantage at the half.
Scott Perri added two goals and an assist for Drexel.
Binghamton outshot Drexel 34-28 but Mark Manos (Salesianum School, DE) finished with 13 saves in the winning effort.
Penn 11, Denver 7
The Quakers (1-2) defeated host Denver to cap off the first day of the Pioneers’ DU Face-Off Classic. The win was Penn’s first under head coach Mike Murphy.
Al Kohart had five goals and an assist to lead Penn, while Rob McMullen scored twice. Corey Winkoff had a goal and two assists and John Conneely added a goal and an assist.
Chris Casey and Joe Hegener split time in goal, with Casey making four saves and Hegener three. Both players gave up five goals.
Lehigh 14, Air Force 13
Down 13-10 with 9:54 to play, the Mountain Hawks (2-2) scored the game’s final four goals, including sophomore Cameron Lao-Gosney’s game-winner with no time on the clock on Day 1 of the DU Face-off Classic.
Lao-Gosney, Dante Fantoni and Brian Bienemann finished with three goals apiece for the Mountain Hawks, while Dan Carr (Penn Charter) made seven saves and Mike Noone (La Salle) helped the defense with two groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Villanova 8, Fairfield 6
Kevin Cunningham had two goals and three assists while Matt Bell and C.J. Small each had two goals for the Wildcats (2-1).
Rutgers 15, St. Joseph’s 6
Sean Evans (Henderson) tallied three goals for the Hawks (0-5) in defeat. Rutgers is 2-1.
Princeton 11, Johns Hopkins 10, OT
Scott Mackenzie scored 59 seconds into OT to give the Tigers (2-0) the win in the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Kyle Wharton (Haverford School) scored once for the Blue Jays (3-1) and Matt Dolente (Malvern Prep) won 8 of 16 face-offs.
Lafayette 15, Wagner 4
The Leopards improved to 4-0 despite two goals by Wagner’s Cody Isdaner (Episcopal Academy).
Delaware 16, Albany 9
Curtis Dickson erupted for eight goals and Martin Cahill added three to power the host Blue Hens (4-1).
Ohio State 11, Penn State 10, OT
Matt Mackrides (Malvern Prep) tallied five goals, including two in the last 2:03 of regulation to send it into overtime, but the visiting Nittany Lions fell to 0-3. Jimmy Green (Central Bucks East) had two goals for the Buckeyes (3-1). Colton Vosburgh (Unionville) scored once for PSU and Dave Baker (Haverford High) had eight saves in goal.
Maryland 11, Duke 10, OT
The No. 7 Terps won it on Grant Catalano’s goal 1:50 into OT in the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic at M&T Bank Stadium. Brett Schmidt (Upper Dublin) led the Maryland (3-0) defense with two groundballs and two caused turnovers and freshman goalie Dan Wigrizer (Haverford School) had eight saves for the No. 9 Blue Devils (2-2).
Georgetown 9, St. John’s 6
Tom Manes (Archbishop Ryan) had three assists for the Red Storm (2-1) in the Big East loss to the Hoyas (2-1).
