The top-seeded Cabrini women’s lacrosse team advanced to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) final for the 14th straight season in emphatic fashion, earning a convincing 21-4 semifinal round victory against No. 5 seed Marywood University on Wednesday afternoon at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
Seniors Amanda Alexandrowicz (Ridley) and Erin Nollen (Henderson) posted a combined 18 points for the Cavaliers in the victory.
Cabrini (10-7) will face Gwynedd Mercy College, a 14-12 winner over Centenary, in gthe CSAC finals Saturday.
Nollen totaled a season-best 10 points with eight goals and two assists. Alexandrowicz notched eight points, scoring seven goals, including the 200th of her career, and adding one assist.
Junior attack Jamie O’Hanlon (Springfield-Delco) registered four points with two goals and two assists. Freshman attack Christina Pasquariello (Harriton) kicked in three points with two scores and one helper.
The Cavaliers won the groundballs battle, 37-18. Junior defender Courtney Davis scooped a club-high seven groundballs and senior midfielder Lynda Kaufmann (Chichester) corralled six.
Each of Cabrini’s 13 consecutive CSAC championship game appearances prior to this season have come under the leadership of head coach Jackie Neary (Ridley, Temple). Neary was named the conference coach of the year for the fifth time since 2001 on April 30.
The Blue & White will play Saturday at home for the right to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in program history. The Cavaliers have won nine CSAC titles, including a run of eight consecutive from 1998-05.
Gwynedd Mercy College 14, Centenary 12
Colleen Dellostretto (Upper Moreland) had four goals and an assist and Kerri Boon (Interboro) added three goals to lift the Griffins (9-8) into the CSAC finals.
Bridget Gibson (St. Hubert) and Kristie Pollock (Unionville) each added two goals for Gwynedd Mercy while Kirstyn Varas had a goal and an assist and Shannon Carabba (Springfield-Montco) and Kristi Mackin (St. Hubert) each scored once.
