In its first Big East matchup of the newly formed conference, No. 17 Villanova suffered a 20-6 loss to No. 2 Syracuse today at the Carrier Dome.
Jeremy Thompson collected three goals and two assists for the Orange 6-1, 2-0) as 13 different Syracuse players scored. The Orange tallied five goals in each period andled, 10-4, at halftime.
Junior co-captain Brian Karalunas led the Wildcats with five ground balls and five caused turnovers and co-captain Mark Scioscia tallied two goals. Nick Doherty, Jack Rice, Michael Vigilante and C.J. Small also scored for Villanova.
