Chestnut Hill College men make program debut a success in 10-7 win over Neumann

Freshman attack Mark Winkelspecht (Parkland) collected five goals, an assist and six groundballs to lead visiting Chestnut Hill College to a 10-7 victory over Neumann University Tuesday, giving the Griffins a win in their first men’s game ever.

Chestnut Hill, playing as the home team due to a postponement last weekend, jumped to a 7-2 halftime lead and led, 10-4, after three periods.

Matt Toth (Coatesville) led the Knights with four goals. Kyle Gardner (Perkiomen School) added three assists and freshman goalie Andrew Neubauer (Springfield-Montco) made 11 saves.

Freshman attack Shane Morlock added three goals and an assist for Chestnut Hill. Junji Weiner and freshman Mark Lively each added a goal and Ricky Norman Jr. was 14-for-21 on face-offs while scooping eight ground balls.

Solid defense was provided by freshmen Tom Carfagna (Parkland) and D.J. Lynch. Carfagna caused four turnovers while Lynch caused three in addition to grabbing six ground balls. Dakota Maurer earned the win for the Griffins, making eight saves.
