The charge of attempted murder against Gerald Ung was bound over for court today during a preliminary hearing in Philadelphia Municipal Court in the Jan. 17 shooting of former La Salle College High and Villanova University lacrosse standout Eddie DiDonato.

Ung, 28, a Temple law student, will now face a formal arraignment with the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas on May 7.

Also bound over for court against Ung were charges of Aggravated Assault, Possession of an Instrument of Crime with Intent, Simple Assault and Reckless Endangerment. Two charges were dropped: Carrying a Firearm without a License and Carrying a Firearm Publicly in Philadelphia.

Ung was arrested for allegedly shooting DiDonato, 23, of Blue Bell, six times during an altercation at 2:30 a.m. at Fourth and Market streets in the Old City section of Philadelphia, police said. The incident occurred in front of the Fox29 studios and was partially caught on tape by the Fox surveillance videos.
