A number of highly-touted players from the Philadelphia region and beyond have registered to compete in the first girls’ division of the Philly Lacrosse Showcase on Sunday, Nov. 21 at Episcopal Academy.

The event will follow the boys’ division on Saturday, Nov. 20, at EA. The boys’ event is already sold out, while spots remain for the girls’ event. To register, click here.

The Philly Lacrosse Showcase, in its second year, is one of the nation’s biggest Fall recruiting events and is open to anyone in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. Players are guaranteed to play in at least three games and are eligible to be selected to the Gait Lacrosse Fab Forty All-Star games in the afternoon. More than 100 college coaches are expected to attend each day.

The region’s top mentors are serving as coaches for the games. Click here for story last week.

Some of the more notable girls’ players registered include:

Returning All Suburban One selections – Souderton senior midfielder Danielle Notvest (senior committed to Villanova, 62 goals), Hatboro-Horsham’s Cortnee Daley (junior midfielder), Julie McKay (junior midfielder) and Caroline Hagan (junior defender), North Penn junior midfielder Brenda McDermott and Wissahickon sophomore midfielder Laura Frankenfield (the top freshman goal scorer in the region with 54 and member of Philly Under Armour Underclassmen team).

Returning All Central League selections – Garnet Valley junior attack Halley Barnes and Haverford High junior midfielder Katrina Geiger (77 goals last year, member of Under Armour team).

Returning All Ches-Mont League selections – Downingtown East junior defender Kaitlin Brennan.

Additionally, in its first year the Philly Girls Showcase has attracted talent from neighboring states as well. Among notable out-of-state registrants for the Philly Girls Showcase are:

New Jersey – Ridgewood senior Caroline Moore, Moorestown sophomore Margaret Nissen and Rumson-Fair Haven sophomore defender Claire Scarrone (35 goals, helped team win Class A Central, Shore Conference Tournament and NJSIAA South Group II championship).

Ohio – Sophomore Annie Brockett, who capped her freshman year by scoring three goals in the championship game and helping Hathaway Brown to an Ohio state title.

New York – Sophomore Kelly Schlansker, from upstate New York power Niskayuna, and a contingent of six players from Burke Catholic.
