July 10, 2010 by Chris Goldberg

The Top 5 and Philly teams ranked in the final ESPN RISE POWERADE FAB 50 rankings:

1. Manhasset (Manhasset, N.Y.) 20-0 [previous: 1]

Manhasset ended the 2010 season as the New York C Conference state champions, and are the FAB 50 National Champions. The Indians went undefeated and are winners of 36 straight games over the past two seasons. Wins over ranked FAB 50 teams Garden City (Garden City, N.Y.) and Darien (Darien, Conn.) were impressive.

2. Summit (Summit, N.J.) 23-0 [previous: 2]

Summit broke the New Jersey state record with its 45 consecutive victory, a 6-1 win over St. Joseph Metuchen that also netted the Hilltoppers their second straight NJISAA Tournament of Champions title.

3. West Islip (West Islip, NY) 21-1 [previous: 3]

The Lions defeated Fairport 13-5 to win the New York A Conference state championship. West Islip star Nick Galasso (North Carolina) scored his 500-career point, which broke the Long Island scoring record. It is the Lions fourth Class A championship in five years.

4. St. Paul’s (Brooklandville, Md.) 15-4 [previous: 4]

Arguably one of the best high school teams in the country. The Crusaders captured the MIAA title by defeating Boys’ Latin 17-7. Three Crusaders made first team Baltimore Sun All-Metro honors.

5. Jamesville-De Witt (De Witt, N.Y.) 22-0 [previous: 5]

Jamesville stunned Garden City 11-5 to become the New York Class B Champions. De Witt had the most wins this season out of all the New York Teams in the rankings. The Red Rams won thirteen games with 15 or more points.

Philly teams

8. Conestoga (Berwyn, Pa.) 24-2 [previous: 8]
The Pioneers had been waiting to play LaSalle all season since falling to the Explorers last year in the Pennsylvania State finals. On June 12 Conestoga got their revenge and beat La Salle 10-6 to become the 2010 PIAA state champs. Conestoga proved in 2010 they were one of the best teams from Pennsylvania in the Top 10.

9. Haverford (Haverford, Pa.) 20-4 [previous: 9]

Haverford opened the 2010 season in early March with a bang by beating MIAA powerhouse St. Paul’s 13-9. Then in early April defeated local rival Conestoga 8-7. The Fords went 7-2 in PA IAC play. Haverford would go onto win the PA Inter-AC Championship.

18. LaSalle (Wyndmoor, Pa.) 21-3 [previous: 17]

La Salle had a great year in 2010, though the Explorers came up short against rival Conestoga in the PIAA state championship. The Explorers surprised a lot of people this season by how well they played with considering how much they lost a year ago. Next season La Salle will be returning a core group and should be a top team in Pennsylvania. The most impressive win for La Salle this season was over out of state rival Georgetown Prep in the Checking for Cancer classic in April.

33 Springfield (Delco, Pa.) 20-3 [previous: 33] 41. Downingtown West (Downingtown, Pa) 17-3 [previous: 41]
