Haverford School’s Annesley signs Letter of Intent with St. Joseph’s

Haverford School senior midfielder Billy Annesley has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at St. Joseph’s University.

Annesley helped Haverford School claim a share of the Inter-Ac League championship and win the league playoff championship last season. The Fords finished 16-8 and were ranked No, 4 in the final PA Lacrosse Media Rankings.

Annesley plays club lacrosse for Mesa Fresh 2010 and was part of a team that finished fourth in the Dick’s Tournament of Champions in Florida earlier this month. The team lost in a close game against Warrior in the semifinals.

“I had a lot of fun,” Annesley said. “We thought we could have won it all but we came up short.”

Annesley will be going to St. Joseph’s to play with La Salle midfielder Anthony Cognetti, Strath Haven attackman Mark Dolphin, and Central Bucks East attackman Brian Urban.

“When I visited St. Joes I had a good feel for it and was impressed with the program,” said Annesley, who plans to major in business.

Annesley is one of the 10 Haverford School already signed or committed to Division I colleges. Other seniors that signed are attackman Stephen Aitken (Penn State) and midfielder Liam O’Connor (Notre Dame). Juniors that have committed include defenseman Alex Beatty (Princeton), attackman Chris Hupfeldt (Penn), goalie Conor Kelly (Notre Dame), midfielder Brendan McGrath (Princeton), long stick midfielder Goran Murray (Maryland), midfielder Carl Walrath (Virginia) and midfielder Matt Walters (Syracuse),

Annesley admitted that expectations are high for 2010.

“This season I want us to go undefeated and repeat as Inter-Ac League champs, and to win the league playoff championship again,” Annesley said.
