Mount St. Joseph senior midfielder Katie Mischler has signed a letter of intent

Mount St. Joseph's Katie Mischler will play at Lafayette College

to play next year at Lafayette College.

Mischler said she chose Lafayette mostly because of its first-year head coach, Alison Fisher, also her coach for Ultimate Goal Lacrosse Club and a former Lafayette great. Also, another coach at Ultimate Goal, assistant Jordan Ellis, is an assistant under Fisher at Lafayette.

“I really liked having Jordan as a coach in the summer,” Mischler said. “And Alison’s got great charisma. Just her presence makes you smile.

“You know that with her knowledge of lacrosse, she will definitely resurrect the program.”

Mischler, a member of the National Honor Society and a recipient of awards in Technology, British Literature and Spanish 3 at the Mount, said she plans to major in business and economics or mathematics.

“I liked how small Lafayette was,” she said. “I go to Mount St. Joseph and before that I went to Abington, and it was much bigger. I thought if I went to a school the same size (as the Mount) that it would help me with my academics.”

Mischler, for now, is focusing on helping the Magic contend in the competitive Catholic Academies League. Mischler said the team will be short on experience this year, but not desire.

“Some people think that because we play in a Catholic league, it’s not as tough,” she said. “But there are some really great teams. We lost a lot of seniors. I think our expectations this year are for us to do our best. If we work to the best of our abilities, we can achieve anything.”
