Mount St. Joseph Academy rising senior midfielder Corinne Caracausa has given a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Holy Cross.
Caracausa an All-Athletic Association of Catholic Academies pick in 2009, liked the location and academic reputation at the Worcester, Mass., college. She is undecided on a major.
“I chose it mainly because of the academics,” said Caracausa, a 2nd honors student with a 3.8 GPA at the Mount. “I liked the school even if I weren’t going to play lacrosse. Being able to play there, made it a lot easier.
It’s a very pretty campus and it’s close to Boston and closed to Providence. It’s not too far from anything; it’s a good area to be in.”
Caracausa felt the Mount had a successful year in 2010, finishing third in the AACA with a young squad. Expectations will rise for 2010.
“We have a lot of incoming talent,” she said. “We made it to the (AACA) playoff last year and we played Villa Maria tough (17-11 loss in semifinals).
“We had a very young team and will not lose many seniors that played a lot. This year we’ll have five seniors, but a lot of incoming players that can impact and help us. I just think we’ll keep better and better as years go on.”
