Hill School defender Sarah Kendrick has signed a letter of intent to play next year at Duke University.
Kendrick, a native of Lawrenceville, N.J., played club lacrosse for highly-regarded Tri-State Lacrosse in Central New Jersey. She sent Duke coach Kirsten Kimmel (Haverford High graduate) a video of her playing in summer league play to start the recruiting process.
“I wrote the coach and sent her a video,” Kendrick said. “Then I saw her at a tournament.
“When I went to Duke, I really liked the school spirit and the academic and athletics programs. The coach was really nice and I felt like it was a good atmosphere.”
At Duke, Kendrick – who is undeceided on a major – will join fellow Philly recruit Caroline Keating of Agnes Irwin School.
Kendrick is optimistic that Hill School will be strong this year. The Blues opened with a win over Inter-Ac League contender Penn Charter and then fell to state-ranked Notre Dame Academy.
“We’ve got a few new girls and I think we’re going to do really well,” said Kendrick, one of the team’s co-captains. “As the captain, I have to work on keeping spirit up and being there for communication.”
