Archbishop Carroll senior midfielder Jamie DePetris has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at the University of New Hampshire.
DePetris helped the Patriots win their ninth straight Catholic League championship in 2009, when they advanced to the quarterfinals of the first Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament.
DePetris said she has always been interested in New Hampshire. “I went to their junior day and I loved it,” said DePetris, who has not selected a major, but is considering science. “Really, I fell in love. And the coach (Michael Daly) is really nice. He really wants to make the program better, and the team is really close.”
Daly, the first-year head coach at UNH, was named IWLCA Division II National Coach of the Year three times (1999, 2003, and 2005) during his nine-year term as head coach at Stonehill College.
DePetris is one of several Archbishop seniors that have signed with or committed to Division I schools. The others include Genni Hull (signed with American), Margo Lesher (signed with Sacred Heart) and Aimee Gennaro (committed to Navy).
At New Hampshire, DePetris will join fellow Philly recruit Jaymie Tabor (Downingtown West).
DePetris is optimistic the Pats can shoot for a 10th straight league crown and a shot at states.
“Last year was our first time in states and we made it to the second round, which was really awesome,” she said. “This year we have a lot of good juniors and a lot of seniors that are going to step up.”
